Стівен Роузен: біографія

Стівен Роузен народився в Клівленді, Огайо, в 1955 році. У 1975 році, будучи студентом Прінстонського університету, він приєднався до Міжнародного суспільству свідомості Крішни (ІСККОН), отримавши духовне посвячення і духовне ім'я «Сатьяраджа Даса» (у перекладі з санскриту - «слуга царя істини») від засновника ІСККОН Бхактіведанти Свамі Прабхупади. За даними на 2010 рік Стівен Роузен живе в Нью-Йорку зі своєю дружиною та донькою.

Стівен Роузен є автором розділу про індуїзмі для енциклопедії «Introduction to the World's Major Religions» («Введення до основних релігій світу» ), опублікованій науковим видавництвом Greenwood Publishing в 2006 році. У тому ж році, на замовлення видавництва, Роузен написав книгу «Essential Hinduism», в якій виклав свій попередній внесок в енциклопедію в більш розширеною і доступній формі. У 2008 році вийшла в світ книга Розена «The Yoga of Kirtan: Conversations on the Sacred Art of Chanting» («кіртана-йога: бесіди про священний мистецтві оспівування»), присвячена темі кіртана - релігійних пісень в індуїзмі. У книзі містяться інтерв'ю з більш ніж двадцятьма майстрами жанру зі всього світу та есе на тему кіртана як духовної форми йоги. Розен також є автором двох книг на тему вегетаріанства: «Вегетаріанство у світових релігіях» («Diet for Transcendence: Vegetarianism and the World Religions», 1997) і «Holy Cow: The Hare Krishna Contribution to Vegetarianism and Animal Rights» (2004).
