Мартин Личфилд Уэст: биография

английский филолог-классик, почётный член All Souls College

Область его научных интересов обширна: греческая музыка и метрика, эпос и гимны (Гомер, Гесиод, орфики), история религии и востоковедение. М. Л. Уэсту принадлежит последнее издание Илиады в Тойбнеровской серии и сопровождающее её исследование Studies in the Text and Transmission of the Iliad. Совместно с Эгертом Пёльманом опубликовал (лучшее и наиболее полное на сегодняшний день) собрание древнегреческих музыкальных памятников «Documents of Ancient Greek Music» (Oxford, 2001). Книга Уэста «Древнегреческая музыка» (1992) считается одной из лучших по истории и теории древнегреческой музыки.
